First Big Show

Well - tonight is a big night for me. I am performing my first 30 minute live "breakboxing" set at The Spider Ball, a huge Halloween party attended by about 700 people in San Francisco.

I've performed in from of crowds this big before, but this is the first time I've been listed on a flyer, and the first time that I will get to perform with my digital looping station. I am very excited, and am manifesting a show with no glitches, that's tight, yet relaxed and loose. I want to feel free, and allow myself to be vulnerable, but I really want to pull off a good show and make all my rehearsal worth it.

if your reading this on Friday night, I go on around midnight PST. So send me some energy, please!!

I will update you all soon. Thanks for the amazing support from my family of wow cool friends.

Cleanse

I started and have completed ( thank goodness ) my first cleanse. ( I did the Master's Cleanse ). Nothing but lemonade for 10 days??!! Give me a break , or at least some slack, that's hard for a guy like me who loves to snack with a passion. That said, thank you fate for making me do it, because I have more energy than before I did it, and I certainly lost some weight and feel overall in much healthier condition.  ( I actually stopped after 5 days - but hey, that's still pretty good - for me anyways. )

I also did my patented "Techy Cleanse" - where I didn't use my cell phone, check email, or be on a computer for 5 days. This, was actually harder than the fast from food in many ways. It's amazing how ingrained we are with our technology - I bet you don't even realize it, but you are addicted to the keyboard!  Pagers, emails, cell phones and Fax's - you're so tied in that you won't even consider escaping, and that's what scary - you don't want to take a break - technology is good and there is no reason to slow down. I purchased techycleanse.com and am beginning to write a "cleanse" that people can do to remove the technology "toxins" from their life. I'll let you know when it's complete. You can start by sending me a real, paper letter - yes, handwritten. Send it to 321 South Main Street #5, Sebastopol, CA 95472. I'll send a real on back.

Today, I'm working on making a real transition into a career in music. I have a passion for it, and I want to make it happen. My first song is called " Your dream's can come true if you want them to" , and that's exactly what I am doing - believing in my dreams, and expecting them to come true. They will! Sometimes, they come in different forms, but I think it's safe and accurate to say that they always do come true in some form at least.

Almost one year later, and I'm still living in the spaceship, and loving it!!

The Little Search Engine That Could

Isn't it amazing how easily we have access to information these days? Basically, if you need to know something, a quick idea of an answer is less than 5 minutes way, or perhaps even 1 minute. The problem is, people are too quick to accept the info they find on the net as true. Look - just because it's on a website doesn't mean it's true. Look how easy it is to publish a statement : I am the president of the united states. Is it true? No - so be careful what you believe.

On that note - the presidential elections. Here is a funny video that I recorded when I was 12 and decided to run for president. I am using it to introduce The Wow Cool Archives - videos from long ago.

The Internet will play a larger and larger role for all elections to come. More and more candidates will push their message via the web, and in creative and sometimes tricky ways. I think that down the road, it may be true that someone without a huge budget will be able to reach all Americans with a message as valuable as the one the candidates that spend $50M on TV commercials. Perhaps someday, we will see a grass roots 'Internet-won' president. Perhaps the search engines will prove to be the engine that brings back a true democratic electoral system - or at least one that has less financial bias than the one we currently have in place. I don't care which side your on, you can't say it doesn't matter how much money you have if your running for president - it's obviously an issue. I place my faith in Internet broadcasting. If you haven't already become a part of this organization - Save the Internet! www.savetheinternet.org.

Stay Wow Cool!

Bring Burning Man home with you

Everyone always asks - "what was your favorite thing at Burning Man? "  - and I always say - "the energy!"

That's the most important part of the whole thing - the positive energy that is radiating from 99% of the people there. It's amazing, and you can bring it home with you. yes, when you have a city of 50K+ people, there are always going to be a few people who are negative, and destructive ( suicide, the man burner ) but really, for the most part, people are sooo open, and sooo aware of how to be friendly, that it becomes this utopia of positive energy.

The key is to bring that energy home - and to allow yourself to feed off of the ideals that people practice there. They practice 'radical self expression' - but you can bring it home and drop the 'radical' and still be helping in a tremendous way towards improving the quality of your life, and others around you.

It is better for everyone if you are happy  - vibrations and frequencies really do matter I believe - and trying to remain in a creative and inspired place will help open doors left and right ( and straight ahead and back! ).

I'm happy to be home and back to work in the real world, and happy to have the positive energy of 'radical self expression' by my side. Thanks for checking in, and talk to you again soon!!

Who's Your Playa?

Well - the time has come - the moment has arrived - the ship is ready for you to board - the Burning Man ship that is.

Yes, it's that time of year when ( at least )  50,000 people gather on the playa in Gerlach Nevada to experience what could very well be the greatest festival human kind puts on. Well, there is  Prayaga, and The Kumbh Mela of course, but as far as creative output, and beautiful expression of human kind -  it's in the top ten at least - it's amazing, no matter what your friend (who probably hasn't gone yet) has to say.

The theme this year is "green man", which is right in tune with the these of most magazines and social design trends, so good job naming this year BM staff. Here's the thing I want to say, because I know people are talking about this: "Green Man?  - - It's not really that green fly in from all over the world,  barrel up there in RV's, run your generator for A/C, and then have a huge fire, is it?

Well, the answer is, no, it's not. BUT, here's the catch : The amount of social consciousness we are building per carbon molecule that is set into the atmosphere is staggering. That's right - the value of social consciousness, and art, and expression  which will inspire others to live greener lives all year round  is worth the emissions of Burning Man. We need to be more aware and think more - and that comes at the cost of a large social gathering - but I say it's worth it. Of course, carbon offset credits have also been purchased to cover the main event's burn.

So - please send your creative energy out into the world this week so that it may manifest into something you desire, and something you need. We will help make it a reality, and you will help us in turn bu making sure to stay positive this week. Enjoy the full moon on Tuesday.

See you out there, or see you back here, but either way -  check in again soon, and thanks for your time!

House Sitting

Well - Just finished a nice house sitting gig. Wow,Cool, was it nice to have a little extra space for a few days! It's amazing how I have become used to such a small space, and in a way, i forgot what it was like to actually be able to walk around in a kitchen. Sure, you can walk in my kitchen, but you can't walk around in my kitchen. Big difference!

One thing I have learned about myself however, is that if I have a nice space to be in, that's comfortable, safe, and stocked with what I need : I won't leave. It can be a social damper to say the least. Deciding to live in my rig was in a big way inspired by this part of myself. It doesn't matter how many anti-social tendencies I may have, I can't sit in a van all day, and I'm forced to get out. Once I get out, the anti-social tendencies vanish quickly, and I'm OK again - it's just when I'm inside by myself that they lurk. ( This was a big lesson for me )

So - if you're feeling bored at home, pretend you're in a super small space, and have to leave, and see if it's better once you're down at the coffee shop. If it's not, get another coffee and force yourself to talk to someone, and if they don't want to talk, sit down, wait 5 minutes, and try again with the next person that walks in the door. ( Repeat this for up to 2 hours, and then, go for a run, come back, and begin again.)

You Define Creativity

Creativity (or creativeness) is a mental process involving the generation of new ideas or concepts, or new associations between existing ideas or concepts.

There you go - that's all you have to do. Take a new idea, or if you don't have a new idea, take an old idea and talk about it some more! It's almost too simple. That's what I say to people who tell me they have a hard time being creative. All you have to do is look around the room, wait until you get an idea, and as soon as you register an idea - talk about how that idea makes you feel!

For example, The Pen Guy show that I put up today - what an amazing display of creativity that is! What did he do? He just decided to start a project, of putting pen's on his car, and the more he did it, the more creative ideas came out of it.

It's almost as if once you start the process flowing, the rest is easy ( and can be hard to stop! ) - so - don't be afraid to be creative today - it's so worth it to get that ball rolling - you never know what's going to come of it - it really could change your life.

Let me know if you want to chat about your creative side, no really, contact me ( http://www.wowcoolshow.com/contact.html ) - I'd be happy to chat with you.
